About OKTA Sydney
Sydney, home of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, saw its Korean community grow quickly from the 1980s, with about 1,400 new migrants settling each year between 1986 and 1991.
The Sydney Chapter, the first chapter in Oceania, was founded on 27 October 1990 as the Oceania Chapter of the Korean Overseas Traders Association in Australia. It took its current name when the World-OKTA Sydney Chapter constitution was revised in March 2005.
The chapter has grown through export business meetings and the Next-Generation Trade School, and in March 2011 it successfully hosted the Korea–Australia FTA promotion forum and the Oceania Business Convention.
With a balanced membership of next-generation and full members, systematic GBC training and the TP project, the chapter has built responsible membership management and sound finances — regarded as one of the soundest Korean community organisations in Sydney.
Through joint logistics, export business meetings, support for Korean SMEs going overseas, and joint marketing and sales projects, the chapter contributes to both the local Korean economy and Korea’s economy.
After more than 30 years of growth, the Sydney Chapter and all its members are taking the next steps together toward the next 30 years.
Part of the worldwide network of Korean business and trade leaders — the Sydney link in that chain.
We support the growth of the Korean business community through member exchange, business cooperation and training the next generation of traders.
